Longtime Comcast-Spectacor/Flyers Exec Peter Luukko Resigns

Peter Luukko is out as Comcast-Spectacor President & COO, "where he was viewed by many as the man who would one day replace" Ed Snider as Chair. The Flyers' parent company today announced that Luukko had resigned. Dave Scott, who recently retired as Comcast Exec VP & CFO, was named Comcast-Spectacor Acting President. The company also announced the addition of Gary Rostick as CFO. Rostick most recently served as Comcast Business Services CFO and VP/Finance & Business Operations (BIZJOURNALS.com, 12/2).

Flyers players and coach Craig Berube were "caught off guard by the news." As Flyers President, Luukko was a "driving force behind the team participating in two Winter Classics" (PHILLY.com, 12/2). Luukko and Snider last year ranked 43rd in SportsBusiness Journal's list of the 50 Most Influential leaders in sports business (THE DAILY).

Fox, NBC, ESPN Expected To Bid For UEFA Champions League

By John Ourand

UEFA has set tomorrow as the deadline to accept bids for media rights to the Champions League. A new deal would start after the '14-15 season and is expected to run for three years. Fox Sports Media Group, which is the current rightsholder, is expected to make a significant bid, using Champions League programming to help promote the FIFA World Cup, which Fox will carry in '18 and '22. NBC Sports Group also is expected to be an aggressive bidder, using the programming to supplement its EPL deal. ESPN also is expected to make a bid. It is unclear whether beIn Sport will be making a bid. Sources have said that they expect Champions League bidding to approach $100M per year.

Saints-Seahawks "MNF" Game Generates Record Ticket Demand

Secondary-ticket brokers said that prices for tonight's Saints-Seahawks "MNF" game are the "highest they have ever been for a Seahawks regular-season game." Epic Seats VP Scott Barrows said that the lowest price for any ticket on his site for the game is "almost $300." That tops the $225 "get-in" price for the Sept. 15 49ers-Seahawks game, "considered the most for any Seahwaks home game" to date. Barrows added that the secondary market for games in Seattle "far outpaces any other NFL team" (SEATTLE TIMES, 11/30).

Meanwhile, Seahawks fan group Volume 12 tonight will make a "second attempt" at the Guinness World Record for stadium noise. Guinness officials "will be in attendance" to measure if the noise level surpasses the 137.5 decibels of the Oct. 13 Raiders-Chiefs game (SEATTLETIMES.com, 11/29).
