NBC Rolling Out "SNF" Campaign During NASCAR Coverage

NBC is "revving up its NFL promotional efforts with a new campaign" for "SNF" set to debut during Saturday's coverage of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Coke Zero Sugar 400. The "All Eyes On" campaign is an "in-house effort designed to prime the pump" for the '18 NFL season. The initial 30-second spot features Saints QB Drew Brees, Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger and Patriots S Devin McCourty as they "exhort their teammates to put on a show for TV's biggest primetime audience." The ad is "set to premiere" at around 7:40pm ET and "air as many as three times" during the race. The campaign "will evolve throughout the NFL season," with the next executions "expected to appear in August" (ADAGE.com, 7/6).

NBC Moves NASCAR Analyst Steve Letarte To Pit Box

NBC NASCAR analyst Steve Letarte for the next two Cup races will "move to the network's pit box, which will be located in the same row as the team pit boxes." During Saturday's race at Daytona, Letarte will work alone on the pit box as "sort of a middle man between the main booth and NBC's roaming pit reporters." The NBC box is "very close to the racing surface, potentially bringing a lot of noise into the broadcast when Letarte is on the air." Also new this weekend, Mike Tirico "will be included" in the prerace show (USA TODAY, 7/6).

ESPN Digital Adds Experiences For NBA Summer League

ESPN begins its coverage of the MGM Resorts NBA Summer League from Las Vegas at 3:00pm ET on Friday, with coverage of Rockets-Pacers on ESPN3. Indians' Homestand Should Drive Up Average Crowd Size

The Indians as of Friday morning "had already sold 270,000 tickets" for a 10-game homestand that closes the first half of their regular season. Indians VP/Sales & Service Tim Salcer said Friday night's game against the A's is "quickly approaching a sellout." The club is "expecting the strong sales to continue, with the numbers boosted by the Tribe offering fee-free purchases" for the A's and subsequent Reds series. If the homestand, which also includes four games against the Yankees, produces a "combined attendance of 290,000," the team's attendance average would rise to 23,037 through 49 home dates. That figure would be the team's "second-best in the last 10 years" (CRAINSCLEVELAND.com, 7/6).

Brewers Sponsor Covers Miller Park Signs Against Braves, Indians

Fans at Miller Park for this weekend's Braves-Brewers series "might notice some signage obscured on the outfield wall." Beneath is an advertisement for Potawatomi Hotel & Casino, and for "close to the past decade that sign has been covered up" when the Braves and Indians are visiting. When those teams are in town, Potawatomi "elects to obscure all signage -- traditional and digital -- within the park." Potawatomi in a statement said, "The issue of Native American words and symbols being used as team names or mascots is an issue many tribes have advocated against for years. As a business owned and operated by a tribal government, this is a decision we’ve made to support and build on that advocacy" (JSONLINE.com, 7/6).

Austria Drops Out Of Running For '26 Winter Games

The Austrian Olympic Committee has "dropped its plan" for a '26 Winter Games hosting bid "centered on the city of Graz, citing a lack of political support." Friday's decision came hours after the province of Styria "announced a referendum to ask its citizens about the bid." Another Austrian bid campaign, with Innsbruck the host city, was "dropped last year" (AP, 7/6). The Austrian withdrawal "leaves five countries in the running" for '26: Canada (Calgary), Italy (Cortina d’Ampezzo/Milan/Torino), Japan (Sapporo), Sweden (Stockholm) and Turkey (Erzurum) (NBCSPORTS.com, 7/6).
