MLBAM Rolling Out VR Version Of Home Run Derby Video Game

MLBAM today is releasing a VR version of its Home Run Derby game, priced at $19.99 as a digital download for the PlayStation VR and HTC Vive platforms. This follows a series of commercial installations for the game including at last year’s MLB FanFest in Miami and MLB Battlegrounds in London, several offseason team FanFests and at 13 MLB ballparks this season. “MLB Home Run Derby VR” places a user as a virtual batter in either Marlins Park, Nationals Park or Progressive Field, sites of the '17-19 MLB All Star Games.

“We see this as a big step forward for VR as a whole,” said MLB Senior VP/Games & VR Jamie Leece. “We’ve really not had much in the way of sports titles for VR. ... We’re looking to find a sweet spot for something that appeals to both hardcore baseball fans and general consumers of VR.”
