Zippin Hires Veteran Exec Gary Jacobus To Expand Cashless Tech

Jacobus hopes to develop sponsorable assets within Zippin storesGARY JACOBUS

Veteran property marketer GARY JACOBUS has joined Zippin as the tech company’s first Senior VP/Business Development, where he will help direct its "checkout-free" systems broader expansion into concessions across sports venues. Zippin already has "cashierless" grab and go small footprint convenience stores within the Golden 1 Center arena in Sacramento, Empower Field at Mile High in Denver, and one set to open at the AT&T Center arena in San Antonio, when fans are allowed. "This is really a no-brainer for any facility," Jacobus said. "We expect to have commitments or have our system operating in 15 to 20 arenas and stadiums by the end of the year. COVID (has) accelerated this technology, but Zippin has been developing this for five years." Given his background in sponsorship marketing, Jacobus also hopes to develop sponsorable assets within Zippin stores. Jacobus, whose resume includes marketing/sales titles with Aramark, IMG, the NBA, and NFL, will be based in suburban N.Y. and report to Zippin co-Founder & CEO KRISHNA MOTUKURI.
