Sources: DC United Dismisses CBO Andy Bush, Five Front Office Staff

DC United has "parted ways" with Chief Business Officer Andy Bush and "separately, an additional five front office employees," according to sources cited by Pablo Maurer of THE ATHLETIC. Sources said that DC United's front office terminated Bush's employment, and it was "not related to the ongoing global COVID-19 financial crisis." Sources said that while Bush will eventually be replaced, DC United Managing Partner & CEO Jason Levien "will assume his responsibilities." Maurer noted Bush during his tenure at the club "oversaw multiple developments, including the installation of safe standing at Audi Field and widespread renovations to the less than two-year-old venue -- like the addition of a sportsbook facility." Some of the club's other business decisions during Bush's tenure were "far less popular, namely its disastrous decision to partner with streaming service FloSports." Sources said that DC United also "laid off an additional five front office employees" on April 7. Meanwhile, sources said that the club is one of a handful of MLS teams that has "received federal paycheck protection funding ... though it's unclear whether the club has used any of those funds, or intends to return them" (THEATHLETIC, 5/12).
