Eagles, 49ers Make Big Gains In Terms Of Social Media Followers

The usual suspects lead the NFL in terms of social media following, with the Cowboys, Patriots and Steelers at the top, respectively, according to data from MVPindex measured through Aug. 28. The Eagles, fresh off a Super Bowl win, and the 49ers, who traded for and re-signed QB Jimmy Garoppolo, round out the top five. The Super Bowl win was obviously a big help for the Eagles, who jumped nine spots since Aug. 29 last year. That was the biggest gain among any NFL club. One year after going to the Super Bowl, the Falcons saw the sharpest drop among all clubs, down six spots to No. 14 overall. Since the end of August last year, the Eagles lead all teams in social media followers gained (1.95 million followers). MVPindex is a social media index and valuation platform for the sports and entertainment industries, offering real-time analytics on more than 90,000 athletes, entertainers, teams, leagues and brands ranked across the most popular social platforms. The index shows the level of engagement an entity has with its fans based on a proprietary algorithm that takes into account the number of followers, posts, interactions and other factors.
