USA Track & Field Extends Contract Of CEO Max Siegel Through '18

Less than a year after hiring Max Siegel as its CEO, USA Track & Field's BOD has extended his contract through ‘18. Siegel, a former USATF board member and president of global operations at Dale Earnhardt Inc., signed a two-year contract with the organization when it hired him last April. In a memo to staff, USATF Chair Stephanie Hightower wrote, "This is a vote of confidence for the direction that Max and the National Office staff are heading, and we are excited about the future of the organization over the coming five years." She credited Siegel with bringing together USATF constituent groups ranging from sprinters to long-distance runners, improving the balance sheet by cutting broadcast and event costs and adding a major new partner. Since Siegel joined the organization, USATF has signed one new sponsorship. It last month announced the creation of a 12-kilometer race sponsored by IT company Neustar. Neustar will use the race, which will be called the .US National Road Racing Championships, to promote its .US domain name. The race date and location are still being determined.
