Syracuse, Nike Sign Multiyear Renewal For Apparel, Shoes

Syracuse Univ. has signed a multiyear deal that will keep Orange teams in Nike apparel and footwear "for the immediate future." Financial terms were not disclosed. The school said Nike "will provide increased royalty revenue for all licensed products, performance-based bonuses, and base cash compensation." Syracuse AD John Wildhack in recent interviews had said that he was "talking only with Nike" (SYRACUSE.com, 6/14).

Bay Area Authorities Pursuing Battery Charge Against Ujiri

The Alameda County (Calif.) Sheriff's Office is "pursuing a charge of battery" against Raptors President of Basketball Operations Masai Ujiri, who "allegedly pushed and hit a sheriff's deputy in the face" at Oracle Arena after NBA Finals Game 6. Sheriff's Office spokesperson Ray Kelly said that Ujiri was denied access to the court "because he didn't have a proper credential." Kelly: "That's when he tried to push past our deputy." Sheriff's deputies "took witness statements and obtained video of the incident" (SFCHRONICLE.com, 6/14).

Meanwhile, the Wizards reportedly have "no imminent plans to reach out" to the Raptors to speak with Ujiri, "which means there is no massive offer being prepared" (TWITTER.com, 6/14).

Tiger, Primetime Help Fox/FS1 To Strong U.S. Open Start

Fox and FS1 drew 3.465 million viewers on Thursday for primetime coverage of the U.S. Open from 7:30-10:25pm ET, as Tiger Woods played most of his round in the window. Last year's opening round at Shinnecock Hills in New York drew 2.153 million viewers in the comparable window, from 4:30-7:40pm. Primetime coverage on Thursday from Pebble Beach peaked at 3.991 million viewers from 8:00-8:15pm. FS1's early round coverage from 12:30-7:30pm drew 1.38 million viewers compared to 1.063 million last year from 9:30-4:30pm.

FC Cincinnati Gets Approval For Stadium Superstructure

FC Cincinnati received "unanimous approval" for the superstructure of its planned $250M stadium in the West End. The Cincinnati Planning Commission on Friday morning voted to "approve the final development plan for the stadium and parking garage superstructure" for the club's MLS stadium. The final development plan for the final stadium design is "expected to go before the commission in August." There also will be a "final development plan for the on-site future development" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 6/14).

Citi Bank Signs On To Sponsor Startup Incubator leAD Sports

Citi’s private bank line has signed a deal to sponsor early-stage sports startup incubator leAD Sports. Citi becomes the first global banking partner of leAD, which invests in and supports new companies in the traditional sports and esports space. leAD stands for "legacy of Adi Dassler," the late Founder of Adidas. leAD says some of the startups that it has worked with include German company Wingfield, which is developing tennis player data tracking technology, and U.K.-based Who Knows Wins, which is developing a social sports betting platform. leAD will have access to Citi’s banking products, while Citi Private Bank’s sports advisory and finance team will lend investment expertise to the organization.

Sports Figures Giving Back Via Charity Softball Games

Several charity softball games are on tap for this weekend, including the inaugural Battle For Vegas at Las Vegas Ballpark benefiting the Tyler Robinson Foundation. The game will feature a group of Golden Knights players, captained by RW Reilly Smith, taking on Pro Football HOFer Marcus Allen and a "team of Raiders." Smith's team also includes former MLBer Jose Canseco and Imagine Dragons singer Dan Reynolds. Former MLBer Shane Victorino is on Allen's squad (LAS VEGAS SUN, 6/12).

Meanwhile, Bears S Eddie Jackson "will host his inaugural Offense vs. Defense Softball Game for charity" at Boomers Stadium in Schaumburg, Ill. There also will be a home run derby (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 6/13).

MSG announced that a rodeo will be held at the venue for the first time in 29 years next year when The Cowboy Channel’s Rodeo New York event comes to town on Father’s Day Weekend (Stern).

Bud Light is celebrating the Blues and their first championship by brewing a special batch of beer infused with the sounds of the Blues' unofficial victory anthem, "Gloria." To create the beer, Bud Light will be playing "Gloria" by Laura Branigan on repeat, 24/7 for the entire brewing process. The tank will be wrapped in decorative Blues colors and will be signed by every member of the team. Once ready, the beer will be poured into limited-edition championship packs that will be released later this year. During the brewing process, Bud Light will initiate a "Gloria" livestream on Twitch, allowing fans to watch for the next three weeks (Bud Light).
