Warriors' Oakland Farewell Drives NBA Finals Ticket Demand

The NBA Finals resume tonight for Game 3 in Oakland, where ticket demand "will likely keep rising" as the Warriors wrap up their farewell run at Oracle Arena. The average ticket price on the secondary market to attend one of the remaining Finals games at Oracle is $3,152, according to TicketIQ. That is the "most expensive average asking price for an NBA Finals ticket during the Warriors’ five-year run" of appearances. This year’s Warriors Finals tickets are the "second-most expensive average asking price since TicketIQ started tracking that data" in the '10-11 season. The "only higher price" is for the remaining Raptors games in Toronto, averaging $3,616 (BIZJOURNALS.com, 6/5).

During tonight's game on ABC, NBA referees are "bringing back real-time interaction." For the first time, the official NBA Referees feed "will tweet out camera angles not available to TV broadcast" via the NBA Replay Center. Fans can send questions to @OfficialNBARefs or use the hashtag #RefWatchParty (TWITTER.com, 6/4).

This year's Finals "has it all." The series has been "serving up compelling storyline after compelling storyline and giving the basketball world exactly what it needs before the chaos of free agency begins" (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 6/5).

DXC Lines Up High-Tech Activations For IndyCar Sponsorship

By Adam Stern

DXC Technology has lined up new VR, AR and AI activations as part of its title sponsorship of this weekend’s IndyCar race at Texas Motor Speedway, as the IT services company enters the second year of the deal. DXC will convert a suite at TMS this weekend into the DXC Digital Suite, which will serve as a demo station to let people try out games and experiences it created for the race. That includes a VR experience called the DXC Virtual Speedway that will simulate a trip around the track and a fly-through of the SMI-owned facility.

There will also be a virtual pit stop that will use VR headsets along with AR technology, as well as a fuel strategy-based app game that will be accessible even by people not at the track on mobile devices or the web. DXC, formed two years ago as part of a merger between CSC and the enterprise services division of Hewlett Packard, is also planning to host 2,500 employees this Saturday, as some of its U.S. operations are based near the track. DXC also sponsors Team Penske’s No. 22 Chevrolet driven by Indy 500 winner Simon Pagenaud.

NCAA Track Finals In Austin Will Showcase Schools In Texas

The NCAA Track & Field Championships kicked off today at the Univ. of Texas' Mike A. Myers Stadium, which will also host next year's event while Oregon's Hayward Field undergoes a massive rebuild. The event runs through Saturday, with most finals scheduled for primetime for "television purposes." The event in Austin "could be a Lone Star-studded affair," with Texas Tech ranked No. 1 and three other state schools -- Texas A&M, Houston and Texas -- in the top 10, plus Baylor at No. 24 (AUSTIN AMERICAN-STATESMAN, 6/5).

Coverage will air on ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU, and the net had input into some slight scheduling changes due to weather concerns. All of today's running events, "with the exception of the 10k," were moved up 30 minutes (USTFCCCA.org, 6/4).
