Capital One Arena Getting New Scoreboard In Latest Upgrades

Capital One Arena will undergo $15M in privately funded upgrades this summer, the "second phase of a two-year project that began" with a $40M facelift last offseason. The "centerpiece of the second phase" is a new center-hung scoreboard that will feature a "360-degree continuous video screen with more than 7,000 total square feet of LED display across eight distinct display areas." It also will feature a "retractable component, a double-sided LED ring beneath the main screens and an LED display on the underside." Four two-sided, curved video boards "will be installed in the upper corners of the arena." The venue also will have the "first 'SkyRing' display in an indoor arena," with the LED board wrapping around the roof line above the 400 level (WASHINGTONPOST.com, 2/21).

Meanwhile, Leidos will be presenting sponsor of the '19 Capital Esports Faceoff, as well as a new interactive esports gaming zone on the second-level concourse (Monumental Sports & Entertainment).
