White Sox Adding Goose Island-Branded Area At Ballpark

The White Sox and Chicago-based brewer Goose Island today announced a "remodeled section in the right field bleachers" at Guaranteed Rate Field "will be named 'The Goose Island,' complete with running water fixtures on each side." The area "affects two outfield sections and will feature field-level views, leather seats in the first few rows, in-seat service, party areas and a total of 326 seats, among other amenities." The company also "received naming rights to the bar area next to the visiting bullpen, which will be called the 'Goose Island Craft Kave,' as well as a walk-up bar accessible from the 100-level outfield concourse" (CHICAGOTRIBUNE.com, 1/28).

NBC Sports Chicago Launches Digital Docu-Series On D.R.

NBC Sports Chicago today is debuting "Béisbol y Vida," a five-part digital series chronicling the recent visit made by some U.S.-born White Sox prospects to the Dominican Republic. A new episode will be made available each day this week through Friday at NBCSportsChicago.com. The series was produced, shot and edited by NBC Sports Chicago Senior Producer of Original Content Ryan McGuffey and Content Producer Matt Buckman. It will feature an interview with Dominican-born prospect Eloy Jimenez (NBC Sports Chicago).

MLS' Inter Miami Proposes Lockhart Stadium As Training Site

Expansion MLS club Inter Miami CF has submitted a "proposal to the City of Fort Lauderdale for the design, construction and maintenance of a state-of the-art soccer training facility" at the former Lockhart Stadium site. The facility would "serve as the training grounds for Inter Miami’s MLS team and also as home to both its youth academy and anticipated USL reserve team." Inter Miami Sporting Dir Paul McDonough said that the site was chosen due to it being "geographically positioned to draw academy players from Palm Beach County, Broward County and Dade County" (MIAMIHERALD.com, 1/28). Miami's first MLS club, the Fusion, played at Lockhart Stadium from '98-'01, when the team was contracted (THE DAILY).

NASCAR Team Sponsors Roll Out Daytona 500 Paint Schemes

With the Daytona 500 less than three weeks away, a handful of paint schemes for the ’19 NASCAR season were rolled out today from FedEx, M&M’s and Hooters. FedEx is the full-season sponsor of Denny Hamlin’s No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota, and the company unveiled a new design that uses a white base color with purple and orange accents in company colors. Fellow JGR sponsor M&M’s unveiled the scheme that will be on Kyle Busch’s No. 18 Toyota at Daytona and will promote M&M’s new chocolate bar line, which came out late last year. Meanwhile, Hooters showed off its new design that will be on Chase Elliott’s No. 9 Hendrick Motorsports Chevy.

Fritz Pollard Alliance To Honor Cardinals' Michael Bidwill

The Fritz Pollard Alliance will give Cardinals President Michael Bidwill its Paul J. Tagliabue Award at the upcoming Johnnie L. Cochran Jr. Salute to Excellence Awards on Thursday in Atlanta. The award goes to an NFL league or team exec who demonstrates integrity and leadership in career development opportunities for minority candidates and advocacy for diversity. Former NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue will be on hand to present the award. Bidwill, a member of the NFL’s Workplace Diversity Committee, is the fifth member of the Cardinals organization to be honored by the Fritz Pollard Alliance in recent years (Fritz Pollard Alliance).
