MLB To Stage Six Games In Mexico During '19 Season, Preseason

MLB will stage three events in Monterrey, Mexico, during the '19 season, consisting of six total games. The Rockies and D-backs will play a pair of Spring Training games March 9-10, while the Reds and Cardinals will meet in two regular-season games April 13-14. Finally, the Angels and Astros will play a two-game series May 4-5. All games will be played at Estadio de Beisbol Monterrey (MLB).

The Angels "gave up two weekend home games, but the Astros are not a top draw in Anaheim" (LATIMES.com, 8/23). This will be the Reds' "second time in franchise history playing games abroad." They played a series against the Expos in '03 in San Juan, Puerto Rico (CINCINNATI.com, 8/22).

Networks Not Planning To Televise Anthem For Most NFL Games

A CBS Sports spokesperson said that the outlet "does not plan to televise the playing" of the national anthem as part of its weekly NFL broadcasts, "which is the same approach it has taken in recent years." A source said that Fox "plans to show the anthem only during what it considers to be special broadcasts -- including on Veterans Day and Thanksgiving and during the playoffs." An NBC Sports spokesperson indicated that the "plans for its 19 NFL broadcasts are still undetermined." The national anthem has "generally not been shown live during NFL broadcasts on a weekly basis in recent years." Networks described their plans as "standard operating procedure" (USATODAY.com, 8/22).
