World Cycling League Expects Big Crowd For Debut Of New Format

The nascent World Cycling League expects a full house at the VELO Sports Center in Carson, Calif., Friday night for its inaugural TeamTrak meet. The two-day, six-team meet will act as a “proof of concept” for the new competition format and league. The track’s infield has been transformed into an 800-seat VIP area for potential sponsors, investors and others. The other 2,500 seats will be filled after an aggressive marketing campaign to local cycling clubs, WCL co-Founder Rick Mayer said. It will be streamed on the league’s own site. The league plans on launching a full season schedule at Carson this fall.
