Red Sox Unveil Plans For Fenway Park's 100th Anniversary Season

The Red Sox today announced plans for celebrating the 100th anniversary of Fenway Park in '12. There will be four major elements of the campaign: an official Fenway Park 2012 logo; official Fenway Park 2012 website at fenwaypark100.com; 100th anniversary brick program and seat sale; and an open invitation to fans to join in Fenway 2012 celebration planning. As part of the brick program, which will begin April 28, fans will have a chance to have a brick with a personalized message placed in the ballpark's concourse area (Red Sox).

NHL's Bettman Remains Hopeful Coyotes Deal Will Get Done

NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman appeared on Toronto's Sportsnet Radio The Fan 590 today and was asked if the Coyotes' playoff game tonight against the Red Wings "could be the final game in Phoenix for the team." Bettman said, "It's not really a fair question. And the speculation that we've been holding some announcement waiting for them to stop playing is absolutely wrong. We're still focused on trying to make it work in Phoenix. ... Do we have an infinite amount of time? The answer's obviously not. But we haven't been holding an announcement."

Bettman then "declined to confirm reports he has been in discussions" with True North Sports & Entertainment Chair Mark Chipman about a "possible 'Plan B' option that would see the Coyotes relocated back to Winnipeg" (THEGLOBEANDMAIL.com, 4/20).

Sepp Blatter Outlines Campaign Promises To FIFA Members

FIFA President Sepp Blatter has promised to distribute $1B for soccer development and "called for 'continuous evolution ... not revolution' in his first direct pitch to be re-elected FIFA president for another four-year term." Blatter made the pledge in a four-page letter to 208 national associations. Blatter did not name Mohamed bin Hammam, his sole challenger in the election, in the letter, but "his repeated references to global challenges ... were interpreted as a swipe against the Qatari" (THETIMES.co.uk, 4/20).

There was "no mention of any plans to reform FIFA, despite the continued concerns over alleged corruption" among Exec Committee members and "the lack of transparency at the world governing body" (TELEGRAPH.co.uk, 4/20).
