John West is the founder and CEO of Whistle Sports, a global digital media company that creates, curates and distributes entertainment content. West formed Whistle Sports in 2008 to entertain and inspire young sports fans through scripted shows, docu-series and user generated content, and he remains responsible for setting the company’s overall vision. In 2018, Whistle Sports was named the tenth fastest-growing media company on the 37th annual Inc. 5000 list and #439 across all industries. Headquartered in New York, Whistle Sports also has offices in Los Angeles and London.
With nearly 30 years of experience launching and building companies, West is an accomplished entrepreneur. In 1989, West started Enstrat, an environmental services company, which was sold seven years later. In 1996, West joined Mitchell Madison Group, a management consulting firm, and was subsequently elected partner. In 1999, he founded and became chairman of Silver Oak Solutions, a financial software and advisory company that was acquired by CGI, a publicly traded IT outsourcing company, in 2005.
West holds a BS in engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He was also a competitive collegiate rower and a U.S. national championship winner on the National Lightweight Rowing team. In his free time, he enjoys playing with his two sons, Jack and Danny, and daughter, Georgia.
