Aaron Liepins is the director of security for AEG Facilities at Target Center in Minneapolis, MN. As the security director Aaron is responsible for oversight of all day to day and event related security operations of the 20,000 seat NBA arena. Target Center opened in 1990 and is owned by the City of Minneapolis. The arena hosts approximately 200 events annually with a full-time staff of 40 and a part-time staff of nearly 1000. Minneapolis selected AEG Facilities in May 2007 to manage Target Center under a long term agreement.
Aaron was hired by AEG in May 2007 and is the Qualified Representative and Minnesota Manager of the protective agent license for Target Center. His staff is comprised of a security manager, coordinator, specialist, full-time and part-time security officers and 60 off-duty Minneapolis police officers. Aaron is responsible for ensuring that all security staff completes the necessary training to maintain compliance with state of Minnesota licensing guidelines.
Before joining Target Center Aaron was Director of Protection Operations for Icon Services Corporation in St. Paul, MN. He has been employed in the security field since 1992 and in addition to his work at Target Center has spent more than 20 years providing personal protection to entertainers while traveling the globe. Notable clients have included Prince, Christina Milian, Chaka Khan, Justin Timberlake, Jimmy Fallon, and Chris Stapleton.
Aaron has studied security techniques and tactics throughout his career with a current focus on terrorism prevention, homeland security, and emergency management. He is a member of Infragard Minnesota, the Downtown Security Executive Group (DSEG), and is connected to information sharing networks with the FBI, Minneapolis police, and Hennepin County Sherriff’s department. Aaron played key roles in the creation of AEG S.A.F.E., (best practices guidelines for all AEG venues) and the security and access control design for the recent $140 million renovation of the arena. Aaron graduated Summa Cum Laude from Waldorf University earning a B.A. in Emergency Management with a homeland security focus.
