Land O'Lakes Becomes Third Founding Partner Of Vikings' Stadium

Land O'Lakes and the Vikings today announced a sponsorship deal that makes the food/agribusiness brand the third Founding Partner of U.S. Bank Stadium. Assets will include prominent signage throughout the venue; advertising opportunities with the Vikings Entertainment Network; exclusivity in the dairy products, animal feed and crop input categories; access to team facilities; collaboration on community initiatives; and business entertainment opportunities. The other Founding Partners are MillerCoors and Hy-Vee (Vikings).

Packers To Unveil Details Of Titletown District Mixed-Use Project

The Packers today are scheduled to reveal "details of the first phase" of their planned Titletown District development near Lambeau Field. The project is to include a "high-end Kohler hotel, Hinterland brewery and restaurant, and a Bellin Health sports medicine clinic." The Packers paid $28.6M for property in the development area. They have indicated that a public plaza "will play a significant part in the development" (GREEN BAY PRESS-GAZETTE, 8/20).

USWNT Continues World Cup Victory Tour With Rain-Delayed Win

The U.S. women's national soccer team last night continued its World Cup victory tour with a 7-2 win over Costa Rica in Chattanooga, with many fans enduring an 83-minute delay "through a minor monsoon." Attendance totaled 20,535, and there were "13,000 or so fans who stayed after the wind, rain and lightning ravaged" Finley Stadium. Having the crowd "sing the national anthem on its own was an inspired touch," as was the "moment of silence for the five victims of the July 16 terrorist attack" in Tennessee (CHATTANOOGA TIMES FREE PRESS, 8/20).

USWNT officials said that the U.S. players "plan to autograph the jerseys" they wore in the game and "put them up for auction, with proceeds benefiting the Chattanooga Heroes Fund" (AP, 8/19).

Tiger Woods Effect Being Felt At PGA Tour Wyndham Championship

The PGA Tour Wyndham Championship gets underway today in Greensboro, N.C., and organizers have been "in catch-up mode" since Tiger Woods on Monday confirmed his participation. An additional 49,000 tickets were printed for the first two rounds, and an "expanded media center was needed to meet demand" (GOLFWEEK.com, 8/19). Preparations have included "distributing many of those tickets to local stores," as well as "calling local law enforcement and asking for extra security and traffic control" (SPORTINGNEWS.com, 8/20).

The Greensboro NEWS & RECORD notes, "Here at the last event of the regular season, we'll watch the old guard play one of the last events of its kind here." The NEWS & RECORD also offers "Five Reasons To Care About The Wyndham."

Source: PGA Championship Headed To Oak Hill In '23

A source said that the PGA Championship is "returning to Oak Hill Country Club" in Rochester in '23, although multiple other sources "would not officially confirm the news." The "final approval" reportedly happened at a BOG meeting at the club Tuesday night. Another source said "there's going to be good news soon." This means club membership "is about to be notified via letter" before the news is made public (ROCHESTER DEMOCRAT & CHRONICLE, 8/20).

Report: Friends Urging David Stern To Run For N.Y. Mayor In '17

Friends of former NBA Commissioner David Stern are "urging him to run" for N.Y. mayor in '17, now that Bill de Blasio is "looking less likely to be re-elected to a second term." A source said of Stern, "He's pretty bored. He's always been interested in politics, and he's always been interested in running for office." But Stern said that he is "not interested in running." Stern: "I remain a happy Westchester resident and am very busy as a senior adviser to a number of enterprises" (N.Y. POST, 8/20).

Jordan Would "Absolutely Not" Allow Use Of Image For $126,900

Michael Jordan yesterday made a "brief surprise return to the stand in federal court" in Chicago to "testify that he would 'absolutely not' have agreed to let Dominick's supermarket use his identity in an ad in return for just $126,900." That is the price an expert hired by the now-defunct supermarket chain told jurors that Dominick's "would have put on the ad in a 2009 special issue of Sports Illustrated, had it asked for Jordan's permission" (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 8/20).

A partnership between the Mercedes-Benz Superdome and Eat Fit NOLA will see "healthier options" available in suites this season. Superdome concessionaire Centerplate has "designated certain items on its menus as Eat Fit NOLA items," including "grilled pork tenderloin, shrimp and kale salad and glazed salmon with bok choy" (NOLA.com, 8/19).

Auburn officials said that the football program is "closing in on sellouts for every game this upcoming season" at Jordan-Hare Stadium (AL.com, 8/19).
