New Primary Sponsor Expected For Danica Patrick's No. 10 Car

Stewart-Haas Racing today is expected to announce a new sponsorship deal for NASCAR driver Danica Patrick, revealing the "identity of a new primary sponsor" for the No. 10, along with a "paint scheme as teased in the sneak peek posted by Danica on Twitter" (MOTORSPORT.com, 8/17). It is "expected the sponsor will be committed to supporting Patrick for nearly 30 of the 36 Sprint Cup Series races" in '16. Sources indicated that the deal will "introduce a new sponsor to the sport" (FOXSPORTS.com, 8/17).

NASCAR website Jayski is reporting the sponsor “could be” healthy snack company Nature's Bakery (JAYSKI.com, 8/18).

Flames Expected To Unveil Plans For "Single, Massive" Complex

The Flames today are expected to unveil their plans to "build a 'giant' enclosed sports complex" for the NHL team and the CFL Stampeders, "as well as a public field house." While "most have remained tight-lipped," local official Ray Jones hinted that CalgaryNEXT "would be a single, massive facility, according to the plan he saw several months ago." Jones said, "It would all be combined together, all three." He "cautioned the plan could have changed over the ensuing months" (CALGARY HERALD, 8/18).

Land Deal Around New Spring Training Facility Clears City Hurdle

The Palm Beach County (Fla.) Commission today will vote on a land swap deal allowing the Astros and Nationals to build a new Spring Training facility in West Palm Beach. This comes after the West Palm Beach City Commission last night voted 5-0 in favor of the deal, which will be "sealed after a final vote" by the Commission on Aug. 31. The swap "requires supermajority votes by both governments." The city "negotiated another concession in the deal – a 12-acre city park on the southwest side" of the new complex (PALM BEACH POST, 8/18).

Michael Jordan Expected To Take The Stand In Trial Over '09 Ad

Basketball HOFer Michael Jordan today is "expected to take the witness stand" in a Chicago court as part of the trial against defunct grocery chain Dominick's over an '09 ad. A jury has spent a week "with Jordan in the courtroom" of U.S. District Judge John Blakey. He will "eventually face off with lawyers for Dominick's, who have tried to show that Jordan has sometimes broken his own rule of entering exclusively into long-term endorsement deals" worth $10M or more (CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 8/18).

Prudential Center Today Hosts Inaugural Sales Academy Event

Prudential Center will host its first-ever Sales Academy summit today, bringing together more than 200 execs from the organization’s four pro teams – the 76ers, Devils, D-League Delaware 87ers and AHL Albany Devils – for a day of sales-focused panels and discussions. Execs scheduled to present include Devils, 76ers & Prudential Center CEO Scott O’Neil, Devils President of Business Operations Hugh Weber, 76ers CRO Chris Heck and 76ers Exec VP/Business Operations Lara Price.

Slew Of Print Ads Congratulate Day On PGA Championship Win

Jason Day's weekend PGA Championship win results in a bevy of print activation today, with Concur running full-page ads in both USA Today and the N.Y. Times: "A true major champion." Zurich Insurance goes full-page in USA Today – "Congratulations To Our Ambassador" – while Rolex offers full-page treatment in the N.Y. Times – "Triumphant!" NetJets runs a quarter-page N.Y. Times ad: "Congratulations, Jason, On Your First Major Championship."

Rolex also runs a full-page N.Y. Times ad congratulating Jordan Spieth for becoming the world's top-ranked golfer: "Number One!" Both Rolex ads promote watches in the brand's Oyster line (THE DAILY).

Seventeen-year-old golfer Brooke Henderson last night made the decision to "petition for immediate membership" in the LPGA, and a decision from Commissioner Mike Whan is expected to "come today" (TWITTER.com, 8/18).
