"They wanted to freeze us out and make it their event. The problem is, they don't know what they're doing. They couldn't sell sponsorships. We sold all the sponsorships. ... Every single deal for television rights, we did, not them" – Arum, on Mayweather Promotions (SBNATION.com, 4/29).

"It's a cultural event. It might be a little bit like Woodstock, where three times as many people say they were there as really were" – HBO Sports President Ken Hershman (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 4/30).

“I look at things in a business aspect. If we just say each one of my kids from this fight … $50 million apiece – I think I made a smart move” – Mayweather, who expects to earn $200M from the fight, on waiting nearly five years from when the public first wanted the two to square off (WASHINGTON POST, 4/30).

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker Steps Into Bucks Arena Negotiations

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker said that he "would step into negotiations personally with the intent of getting a deal done fairly quickly to finance" a new Bucks arena. He said he would be personally involved this afternoon in Milwaukee "to talk about what the options are." Walker, who first proposed a $220M financing plan, had not previously "participated in face-to-face talks with city, county and legislative leaders" and team reps. He had "top staffers attend previous" arena meetings (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 4/30).

Sources said that the Thunder are "nearing an agreement" with Florida coach Billy Donovan on a "multiyear deal" to make him their new head coach, with an announcement expected today or tomorrow. Sources said that "only an unforeseen collapse at this stage would prevent the sides from finalizing a deal after two days of advanced negotiations." Thunder F Kevin Durant reportedly has been "sending optimistic signals about playing" for Donovan, who would replace the ousted Scott Brooks (ESPN.com, 4/29).
