Williams’ post-tennis playing career is starting to take shape, notably through the March launch of Serena Ventures, a venture capital firm that raised $111 million in its first fund and will focus its investing on diverse founders. An investor in Angel City FC, she’s made news with Nike recently, including her involvement in the Nike Athlete Think Tank, which is working to increase girls’ participation in sports. The 1 million-square-foot Serena Williams Building is a creation center at Nike’s headquarters where the company will experiment with product development, presentation, and merchandising. An icon on the tennis court, Williams is steadily turning her efforts to becoming one in the business world, too.
