McCleary usually works in the background, but the legal portfolio for the USOPC could hardly be more consequential right now. The USOPC is still a defendant in the massive lawsuit filed by the women sexually abused by Larry Nassar. Meanwhile, the USOPC has been rewriting bylaws, watching Congress for fresh oversight and compelling national governing bodies with problems of their own to change their practices, including those at USA Boxing, Badminton and Diving. Issues related to the postponement of Tokyo 2020 also will require legal attention.
