Kilroy Realty gives boost to US Sailing

With the 2020 Summer Olympics approaching, US Sailing has signed Kilroy Realty Corp. as a primary sponsor for its Olympic team. The deal runs through the Tokyo Games and includes branding on boats, sails and training garb from Norwegian performance apparel brand Helly Hansen. US Sailing officials said it was their largest current Olympic team sponsorship.

Financial terms of the deal were not available.

Malcolm Page, chief of Olympic sailing for US Sailing, said the sponsorship money will be used to help complete the national governing body’s new training center at Treasure Island in San Francisco Bay, and to make additional investments in technology and sustainability efforts.

“Our values mesh and this is a huge boost as we move into a more expert-driven Olympic effort overall,” he said.

US Sailing CMO Peter Glass said Kilroy Realty’s activation will center on technology, innovation, gender equity/women’s leadership and high-performance training. A social media campaign is being developed, and US Sailing athletes will make appearances at Kilroy events.

Kilroy has been sponsoring some of the NGB’s women’s sailing teams for two years. As of press time, the publicly traded company had a market cap of more than $7.4 billion. Company founder Jim Kilroy was a renowned yachtsman, as is his son, Kilroy Realty CEO John Kilroy Jr.
