Executive change for Mastercard

MLB’s most tenured corporate sponsor outside of beverage stalwarts Anheuser-Busch InBev and Gatorade is Mastercard, which signed on in 1997. Now the payment card’s venerable MLB rights will have a new person leading them, with Michael Goldstein shifting to vice president and head of sponsorships for North America, the company’s biggest region, after six years directing global marketing and sponsorships.

He replaces Mike Tasevski, now in Toronto as vice president of market development. Aside from MLB, Mastercard’s biggest American sponsorship rights deals include the Grammys and the PGA Tour.

“The job’s pretty consistent,” Goldstein said. “It’s about using our rights for consumer branding and awareness and tapping into their affinities on behalf of our issuers.”
