Rebrand simplifies name to ‘Wasserman’

Casey Wasserman’s media, marketing and talent representation agency will now be synonymous with his surname.

In a rebrand, the 600-person company will now be known simply as “Wasserman.” A new logo with a single “W” accompanies the change for the company, founded in 2002.

Newly minted Chief Marketing Officer Denise Durante said the repositioning began around a year ago, with all the strategic and creative work handled internally.

“If you look at our recent portfolio of work, it has been much more than sports, even though sports is how most people know us,” Durante said. “So we’re just doing this to highlight our work, our capabilities and our offerings, like Cycle [a content shop] and Laundry Service [a social media agency]. It’s about what we’ve become as we’ve grown up.”

A reorganization also sees Wasserman become grouped along cross-functional teams: one handling brands, one handling talent and one handling properties. Formerly, the company’s structure was based on service offerings.

Top brand clients at Wasserman include American Express, Microsoft and Pepsi. Among the agency’s athlete clients are Andrew Luck and Russell Westbrook.

As part of the structural changes, there are some new titles among its leadership team. Elizabeth Lindsey is heading brands and properties as a managing partner; Steve Astephen is also a new managing partner; Will Pleasants is now chief operating officer; and Durante becomes the company’s first CMO.

Talent teams are led by senior agents: Jason Ranne (team sports), John Mascatello (golf), Fahri Ecvet (global football) and Brad Lusky (action sports and Olympics).
