Former Cotter Group partner and CMI executive Todd Moore returns to the motorsports marketing arena this week with the launch of the Moore Consulting Group, a Davidson, N.C.-based firm that will offer its services to sports properties and the companies that sponsor them.

Moore has worked in motorsports for 18 years, beginning his career with International Speedway Corp. in 1985. He joined Cotter in May 1994 and remained with the firm through its sale to Clear Channel Communications in September 2000. Moore resigned from CMI, a Clear Channel subsidiary, in December.
A non-compete clause Moore signed during the sale to Clear Channel kept him from working without restrictions in motorsports before Aug. 1.
While Moore said he will pursue business across sports, the bulk of his experience has come in NASCAR. Moore is positioning his three-person shop as an outlet for properties and companies that have been turned off by the consolidation that has made the larger agencies major players in stock car racing.
Two of Moore Consulting's initial clients come from outside motorsports: B.A.S.S. and the Nemschoff offshore powerboat team. His first major stock car client, Hendrick Motorsports, will use the firm to search for sponsors.
