Event Notes: Bordeaux, Rennes, Lyon, Monaco To Reportedly Play In U.S. This Summer

French Professional Football League General Dir Didier Quillot on Monday announced plans to organize a tournament for French clubs in the U.S. with media firm Relevent Sports. The tournament reportedly will include Bordeaux (which was recently purchased by American investors), Rennes, Olympique Lyonnais and Monaco. The tournament would take place in July. Paris St. Germain is scheduled to be in Asia during that period (L’ÉQUIPE, 1/9).

A record crowd for day one of the Magic Millions yearling sale "saw bids flow quickly" on the Gold Coast on Tuesday, with four horses "topping" the A$1M ($720,000) mark. About A$40M ($28.7M) "changed hands and sales appeared to be up on last year" at an average transaction price of about A$255,000 ($183,140) compared with A$225,000 ($161,600) in '18 (THE AUSTRALIAN, 1/10).
