Facility Notes: Formula E Unveils Ad Diriyah EPrix Track

FORMULA E

Formula E revealed the track layout for the inaugural Ad Diriyah ePrix, which will take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The circuit is 1.76 miles long and features 21 corners, but is "still subject to official homologation" from FIA. The track, which will host the first race of FE's Gen2 era on Dec. 15, features "a number of long flowing corners and high-speed turns, with relatively few 90-degree corners of the type usually found on the championship's street courses" (AUTOSPORT, 9/25).

Cricket NSW will secure an interim home base at Sydney Olympic Park ahead of the demolition of its facilities at Moore Park. The club is on the verge of an agreement that will cover it for the period of time it is homeless "due to the reconstruction of Allianz Stadium" and the surrounding Sydney Cricket Ground Trust precinct. NSW will have access to office facilities, outdoor nets at Spotless and ANZ Stadiums, an indoor net facility and a gym at Sydney Olympic Park under the proposed agreement. The move will not be immediate, with NSW allowed to finish this summer at Moore Park (Sydney DAILY TELEGRAPH, 9/25).

Premiership Rugby side Wasps "moved a step closer" to building a new permanent training base in the West Midlands. The club, which relocated to Coventry's Ricoh Arena in '14, hopes to establish a new training ground in Royal Leamington Spa, Warwickshire. A majority of members of Old Leamingtonians RFC voted in favor of the club "setting up home there" (BBC, 9/25).

A consultation was launched over an £85,000 ($56,525) investment to a major athletics stadium in Leicester. The city council is seeking comments on its plans for Saffron Lane Athletics Stadium, which include moving some of the technical areas for athletics disciplines to different areas on the site "to make room for a pitch in the middle of the track." The authority is seeking to transform the stadium into a multi-sports site that has grandstand and parking facilities for spectators (INSIDER MEDIA, 9/25).

Several sinkholes opened at GAA club Magheracloone Mitchells in County Monaghan, "severely damaging pitches and causing cracks in the clubhouse." The sinkholes are "thought to have been caused by the partial collapse of an old mine" beneath the club. The club has been closed indefinitely as a result (BBC, 9/24).
