William Hill U.S. Likely To Add More Team Sponsorships This Year

After partnering with the NHL Vegas Golden Knights for the first team deal in the newly-opened sportsbook category, William Hill U.S. CEO Joe Asher said that its sportsbook "most likely will do another" team deal this year, according to Todd Prince of the LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL. Asher said that he is "not sure how many" deals could be made, but said William Hill "could do one soon." The Golden Knights' partnership "came two weeks after William Hill’s agreement with Eldorado Resorts, one of the largest U.S. casino operators," that gives William Hill "exclusive rights to manage its sports books," with Eldorado receiving a 20% stake in the company. Since May, William Hill has "opened sports books at properties in New Jersey, Mississippi, West Virginia and Delaware and will be operating in Rhode Island and possibly Pennsylvania later this year." Asher is "not limiting the partnerships and deals to teams, leagues and casinos." He said that the industry is "bubbling" with "all kinds of ideas" (LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL, 9/23).
