Women's Big Bash League To Air 23 Matches Live

During the fourth season of the Women’s Big Bash League, 23 matches will be broadcast live on Fox Sports and Seven Network, "almost double the number of televised matches from last season," according to the London GUARDIAN. Remaining matches "will be streamed on cricket.com.au and the Cricket Australia Live app," while ABC radio will also broadcast games live. BBL CEO Kim McConnie "expects the broadcast deal to ensure women’s cricket continues to grow in popularity." She said, "Last season was a huge step forward -- record attendance, record viewership. We’re going to take another big step forward this coming season and then standalone [games] the following." CA "faced criticism last season" over the decision to schedule doubleheader women’s BBL finals with the men’s matches. McConnie: "We know there is a demand for women’s cricket, with more people than ever before tuning in to watch the sport, so the strong relationship we are forming with our new broadcaster partners will continue to reinforce the WBBL as a competition that inspires young girls to understand that cricket is a game for girls too" (GUARDIAN, 7/16).
