Fulham and Aston Villa will play in the League Championship final at Wembley on Satuday and "no other game in world club football has quite as much riding on the outcome." The match will decide which team will be the 20th club in next season's Premier League. Wolverhampton Wanderers and Cardiff City already claimed the automatic promotion places. The winning team will guarantee itself a minimum "windfall" of £160M ($214M) -- its share of the Premier League’s "eye-watering" broadcasting rights deal (REUTERS, 5/24).
Int'l Cycling Union (UCI) President David Lappartient said that Chris Froome's salbutamol case "may not be concluded" before the Tour de France in July. Lappartient said that he "hoped the case would be resolved" before the Giro d'Italia, but now said that it could "carry on" through the Tour de France (CYCLING NEWS, 5/23).
FIFA and Electronic Arts announced London will host the FIFA eWorld Cup Grand Final 2018, virtual football's equivalent of the World Cup, from Aug. 2-4. At the event, 32 finalists -- who qualified through the EA Sports FIFA 18 Global Series Playoffs -- will compete. The winner will receive a cash prize and a trip to the Best FIFA Football Awards. The road to the Grand Final in London will see 128 players compete in the Global Series Playoffs in Amsterdam from May 28-30 and June 1-3 (FIFA).
