Event Notes: U.S. Women's Football To Host Four-Team Tournament

The U.S. women's national team will host Australia, Brazil and Japan in a four-team tournament from July 26-Aug. 2 The Tournament of Nations, which was launched last year and won by Australia, will include three doubleheader events at venues in Kansas City, Kansas; East Hartford, Connecticut; and Bridgeview, Illinois (REUTERS, 5/16).

Buick and WME/IMG China announced the LPGA Tour will be in Shanghai from Oct. 18-21 for a new women's golf event, the Buick LPGA Shanghai, at Qizhong Garden Golf Club. Buick committed to sponsor the tournament for a five-year period. The first edition will have a purse of $2.1M and the field will consist of 62 players (IMG). 

The Lahinch Golf Club in County Clare will stage the Irish Open for the first time next year. Former Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley will host the event at the links course from July 4-7. The hosting role will be rotated each year between McGinley and major champions Darren Clarke, Padraig Harrington and Graeme McDowell (BBC, 5/17).
