Utility Brand Rewirpower Won't Renew Stadium Naming Rights Deal With VfL Bochum

Utility company Stadtwerke Bochum "will reportedly not renew its stadium naming rights deal with 2nd Bundesliga side VfL Bochum," according to Henning Eberhardt of SPONSORs. Rewirpower, a brand of the utility company, "is not expected to extend its contract, which is set to expire after the '15-16 season." Rewirpower has been the club's stadium-rights partner since '06.  Bochum CFO Wilken Engelbracht said, "The Stadtwerke Bochum will remain a partner of the club, but there will be a new direction in terms of their communication." Rewirpower paid an estimated €1.5M ($1.67M) annually for the naming rights (SPONSORs, 8/19).
