Millions Of Fans Worldwide Tune Into Women's World Cup On Social Media, TV

The Women's World Cup quarterfinal between host Canada and England drew a record audience of 3.2 million on Canadian channels CTV and RDS, according to Isabel Roldán of AS. In Japan, Fuji TV's coverage drew 9.3 million for the Japan-England semifinal, while in the U.S., Fox' coverage of the U.S.-Germany semifinal drew 8.4 million viewers. FIFA announced that its website's World Cup section attracted 20 million unique visitors, increasing its daily number of visits by 178%. FIFA's Facebook page for this World Cup attracted 662,000 fans, up 130% from the last Women's World Cup. On Twitter, the @FIFAWWC handle had 222,000 followers, and the official Women's World Cup Instagram account had 1.37 million followers (AS, 7/6).
