Marketplace Roundup: Messi Featured In Galaxy S6 Ad Promoting Release Of Marvel's Avengers

Samsung and Marvel "have united up to promote" the new Galaxy S6 and the cinema release of "Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron" by "creating the ‘We are greater than I’ campaign." The campaign centers on a video that sees the brand's sports ambassadors including Barcelona's Lionel Messi and pro surfer John Florence recruited for a "secret initiative" (THE DRUM, 5/12). ... Watch company Bremont has been announced as the official timing partner of the America's Cup and Oracle Team USA. Bremont will be present throughout the int'l TV broadcasts as well as on the race course with the Bremont logo "gracing the Oracle Team USA catamarans" (BERNEWS, 5/11). ... Brazilian university Estácio "will have 20 more athletes among its students, thanks to the sponsorship" of the national beach football team. The deal sees the Brazilian team "receiving academic scholarships" to the university (MAQUINA DO ESPORTE, 5/11). ... German public health insurance provider DAK-Gesundheit is expanding its cooperation with German corporate running series B2RUN. The presenting partner agreement with DAK-Gesundheit is on a long-term basis. As a top partner, the insurance company provides all B2RUN participants with a wide range of services onsite such as photo activities and foot massages (Infront). ... League Championship club Blackburn Rovers has named online gaming company Dafabet its new primary sponsor in an initial three-year deal. The Dafabet logo will be "present on the front of the Blackburn players' matchday jerseys" and Dafabet will also become the club's official int'l betting and gaming partner. The financial terms of the deal "were not disclosed but, according to reports, it could be worth a seven-figure sum" (SOCCEREX, 5/12).
