Super Rugby side ACT Brumbies mascot Brumby Jack has been forced to "buy a ticket to the biggest Australian rugby derby in more than a decade" after NSW Waratahs officials "banned him from the Allianz Stadium sideline on Saturday night." NSW said that "there's no room for horse play so close to the action as they prepare to host their first final in six years, offering no reason other than Brumby Jack has to pay for his ticket" (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 7/22). ... The Australian Football League has "written to all clubs asking them to keep silent" on "controversial" on-field incidents until after they are heard in the "wake of criticism of how the Brian Lake choking case was played out in the media." The AFL has requested that clubs "not make any comment while match review panel or tribunal proceedings were ongoing" (THE AGE, 7/22). ... The Int'l Cricket Council has "already commenced preparatory work on a long-term plan which will kick in immediately after the current five-year strategic plan expires next year." The new plan is "likely to set long-term targets for the organisation and provide guidelines as to how these targets should be achieved" (PTI, 7/21).
