Marketplace Roundup: Serie A To Allow Team Shirts To Feature Four Sponsors

Serie A jerseys will "now be allowed to have four sponsors on them after clubs voted to change rules." Until now the teams could "only boast three sponsor slots" on their shirts during match situations. There will now be a "200cm squared area on the back of the team shirt, just below the number, where another sponsor can be placed" (FOOTBALL ITALIA, 7/18). ... Spanish triathlete Javier Gómez Noya on Monday signed a two-year sponsorship agreement with Spanish ceramic company Pamesa. Gómez Noya signed the deal at the Spanish Superior Sports Council's (CSD) headquarters in Madrid. He won a Silver Medal in the 2012 Olympics and will be sponsored by Pamesa through the 2016 Rio Games (EFE, 7/21). ... Brasileiro side Gremio has appointed software company SAP in a partnership "based around three areas: improving player performance, improving club administration and improving the fan experience." SAP will work on "bespoke solutions for Gremio, including software to monitor player performance, a fan app featuring statistics and other content and the implementation of its business suite software internally" (SOCCEREX, 7/18). ... Liverpool and Scandinavian online gaming site ComeOn! announced a two-year partnership through the '15-16 season. ComeOn! will use Liverpool platforms to offer fans in Norway, Sweden and Finland promotions and gaming prices on every Liverpool match (Liverpool). ... The World Kabaddi League on Sunday announced that Chinese sportswear brand Li Ning will be its official apparel partner for its opening edition. Li Ning will provide a range of clothing including team kits (IANS, 7/20). ... Huawei, the official smartphone partner of Arsenal, "has unveiled the Huawei Ascend P7 Arsenal Edition smartphone." The new 4G LTE-enabled phone "features the Arsenal club crest on the rear cover, as well as dozens of iconic Arsenal wallpapers" (TELECOM PAPER, 7/21). ... Chinese Super League club Shanghai Greenland Shenhua "unveiled its new emblem which has been designed by a local fan." The emblem "retains the original white, blue and red colors as well as the leopard -- the team's mascot." "Shenhua" is back and on the top, and the investor's name "Greenland" and its logo is at the bottom (SHANGHAI DAILY, 7/21). ... Dutch telecom company KPN "signed a deal to become a sponsor" of the  Eredivisie. Details of the new deal "have yet to be confirmed" (SOCCEREX, 7/18).

IN GERMANY
: Second Bundesliga club FC Kaiserslautern has extended its sponsorship deal with state lottery Lotto Rheinland-Pfalz until '16. The extension was brokered by the club's marketing partner Sportfive (FC Kaiserslautern). ... German 3rd League football club Energie Cottbus has agreed to a new shirt sponsorship deal with packaging supplier Karton.eu. The company, which has been a partner of the club for three years, will see its logo featured on the front the club's jersey during the '14-15 season. The deal was brokered by sports marketing agency Infront Sports & Media (Energie Cottbus). ... Bet-at-home Managing Dir Claus Retschitzegger said that the online betting provider "would like to extended its title sponsorship of the ATP tournament at the Rothenbaum in Hamburg." The current deal with the tournament will expire in '15. Retschitzegger said, "There are no reasons for us to not support tournament for a long time" (HAMBURGER ABENDBLATT, 7/21).
