Sponsors Including Nike, Bose Tweet Praise For Rory McIlroy's Open Championship Victory

Nike, Omega and Bose were among the brands to congratulate Rory McIlroy on winning the Open Championship on Sunday, according to Maisie McCabe of MARKETING MAGAZINE. Nike, which signed a $250M, 10-year deal with the golfer at the end of '12, tweeted an image of McIlroy.

Omega tweeted an image of McIlroy "holding the Claret Jug of the Open Championship while wearing one of the brand's watches."

Bose retweeted the PGA Tour's congratulations to the 25-year-old (MARKETING MAGAZINE, 7/21).
GOLF'S LEADING MAN: FORBES' Kurt Badenhausen wrote golf, "along with its corporate backers and broadcast partners, has been searching for someone to emerge as a star that can carry the sport forward" after nearly two decades of Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson "dominating almost every storyline on and off the course." McIlroy proved Sunday that he can "be that guy with a British Open win that marked his third major championship at the age of 25." The only golfers to win three majors at a younger age are Jack Nicklaus (23) and Woods (24). The "sky is the limit for McIlroy" (FORBES, 7/20).
