Borussia Dortmund Sets New Attendance Record With More Than 1.85 Million

Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund "set a new attendance record during the '13-14 campaign," according to KRONE. The club "attracted a total of 1,855,156 spectators to its 24 home games in various national and int'l competitions." Dortmund confirmed on Monday that the new number "surpassed the previous best of 1,841,258 during the '12-13 season." Borussia Dortmund "is the only club in Europe with an average attendance of more than 80,000." For its 17 Bundesliga home games, the club "averaged 80,291 spectators." Dortmund said that the slight decrease from 80,543 during the '12-13 campaign "is due to a reduced capacity of several hundred seats at the Signal Iduna Park and visiting clubs not using the complete ticket allocation for their fans" (KRONE, 5/12).
