Businessmen Bidding On Real Zaragoza Looking To Complete Deal By Friday

Spanish businessman Mariano Casasnovas, the leader of a "group of eight businessmen negotiating" with Spanish second division side Real Zaragoza Owner Agapito Iglesias to buy Iglesias' shares in the club, said that he "sees Friday as a deadline to sign an agreement on the sale of the club," according to Pedro Luis Ferrer of AS. Casasnovas: "The lawyers for both parties are solving the final details of a document that is not exactly simple. But on what is important, we already agree. We want to buy and Agapito wants to sell to us." Last week, a Spanish judge announced that "any money that Iglesias receives in a sale of the club will be embargoed if there is a sale." Casasnovas added, "We are not aware of Agapito negotiating with any other buyers, so it is only a matter of time. Our intention is for it to be this week, once the judge approves of the contract" (AS, 5/13).
