Trainer Peter Snowden has "taken up the offer of 66 boxes at Randwick to start his career as a public trainer" in May, according to Chris Roots of the SYDNEY MORNING HERALD. Snowden will move into John O'Shea's stable, in a "straight swap with the man who takes over from him as Darley's head trainer." Another 14 boxes at the "top of High Street have been given to Segenhoe," which will start a A$250,000 ($223,050) "refurbishment of the stables from Monday." Australian Turf Club Chair John Cornish said, "We wanted to put an end to the speculation about who would be getting the boxes and it was a no-brainer to have a world-class trainer like Peter Snowden take them." It is "still not clear who will train the horses for Segenhoe, which expects the stable to be operational next month." There was a "late push for Paul Messara to take over the O'Shea stable." Snowden was "rapt to sign the contracts for the stables, even though he had wanted to stay at Warwick Farm, where he trained for Darley." There were "simply no available boxes at Warwick Farm." Snowden: "It came down to a business decision and it was more savvy to go there, to walk into a stable, a good complex and a stable full of clients that were willing to stay, which was a huge plus" (SMH, 1/8).
