Provisional Schedule Indicates One '14 F1 Event In Spain; Valencia Appears Out
A "leaked" F1 provisional calendar for '14 indicates that Valencia's role as host for a race is "in danger," according to EL MUNDO. The released schedule "does not solve the mystery of the Spanish site, which is beginning to become a dangerous soap opera, but it does eliminate one possibility and suggest an outcome: F1 will hold only one Spanish event in '14, the Spanish Grand Prix." Valencia did not host an F1 event this year and had expected to host the event in '14. Next year, the race scheduled in Spain "would not be the first European event." This "puts Valencia in danger." An agreement to annually alternate between Barcelona and Valencia has "not been signed." Barcelona has "been planning an event for more than one month and has already put tickets on sale for the date indicated by the leaked calendar, May 11 -- which lacks official confirmation" (EL MUNDO, 8/4).
