Chelsea Players Have Wallets, Phones, Watches Stolen From Locker Room

Chelsea FC has called in police after six wallets, nine cell phones and several watches were stolen from staff and players at the training ground in "yet another amazing security breach at the club," according to Neil Ashton of the London DAILY MAIL. The thefts were discovered when the players returned to the locker room after practicing at their Cobham base in Surrey. It is the latest "serious incident" at the training ground. Earlier this year, a knife was also found in the locker room at the club’s academy. Academy player Jacob Mellis was fired after he caused a "full-scale evacuation" of the training complex by letting off a smoke bomb. In addition, three members of Chelsea’s staff damaged the Champions League trophy while "posing for unauthorised pictures" with the trophy. Players are now wanting to know "how their possessions could have been taken during an hour-and-a-half training session." The incident is currently being investigated by the police. CCTV footage has been handed to them and "confirms the thefts were carried out by a lone intruder" not connected with the training ground site (DAILY MAIL, 9/26).
