German Pay-TV Channel Sportdigital Acquires TV Rights For French Ligue 1

German pay-TV channel sportdigital "acquired the broadcasting rights for French football league Ligue 1, and extended its deal with the Italian football league Serie A," according to Jan Schlüter of QUOTENMETER.de. Sportdigital will live broadcast "two to three games of the French top flight per week" plus a weekly highlights show during the '11-12 season. In addition, sportdigital also extended its broadcasting-rights deal with the Italian Serie A for the upcoming season. The channel will continue to broadcast two live games per game day as well as a weekly highlights show. Sportdigital CEO Gisbert Wundram said, "With the acquisition of Ligue 1 and the extension of the Serie A deal, we continue our program strategy of focusing on top international football. Together with other top leagues, we have an attractive line-up and are able to present fans and viewers with an attractive live program" (QUOTENMETER.de, 8/10).
