HOIZONT.net reported that German public broadcasters ARD and ZDF "agreed to extend their contract with the German Track and Field Federation (DLV)" to broadcast the country's track and field championships until '16. The DLV "signed the extension with ARD and ZDF's sports rights agency SportA" during the London Games. ZDF Sports Dir Dieter Gruschwitz said, "[German discuss thrower] Robert Harting is a giant -- also with our viewers! The record-ratings of his Gold Medal-winning performance proved it. This new contract between ARD/ZDF and DLV is based on this awareness" (HORIZONT.net, 8/10).

ON AIR: GULF NEWS reported that Pehla Media & Entertainment "will telecast the Sri Lanka Premier League matches on its CricOne channel available only on its Pehla and FirstNet bouquets." The channel is available on the Pehla Prime and FirstNet Premium packages on the Pehla bouquet, E-Vision, Du packages in the UAE and Q-tel in Qatar. The coverage will feature 24 matches played in Kandy and Colombo from Aug. 11-31 (GULF NEWS, 8/10).
