EPL Teams Extending Worldwide Travels To Sell Their Brand

EPL teams are "traveling ever wider and wider" for their pre-season preparations due to the "irrepressible need to sell" their brand to new markets around the globe, according to Adam Shergold of the London DAILY MAIL. This summer alone, EPL squads will "clock up" 190,000 air miles for warm-up games overseas. Out of the 20 Premier League teams, "all but one" will be traveling abroad. Six clubs are heading to Asia, six to America and "the rest will play in Europe." ManU will travel the most distance with more than 23,000 miles covered in three continents. Arsenal is not far behind, "with just shy of 23,000 miles to travel." At the end of July, the London team travels to the Far East, playing in Kuala Lumpur, Beijing, and Hong Kong. Everton's Jakarta trip for the Java Cup competition, "and the considerably shorter jaunt to Malaga, amount to just over 17,000 miles." Queen Park Rangers will be in the air for "nearly the same distance" when they travel to Malaysia for a three-game trip. Fulham fans are the "only ones in the Premier League not requiring a passport this summer" as the team travels just 33 miles to Adams Park, Wycombe for the "sole way friendly announced to date" (DAILY MAIL, 7/5).
