Zidane A Possibility For France Coaching Position

A source close to the French Football Federation revealed President Noël Le Graët and French football legend Zinedine Zidane have "had a formal discussion" regarding the head coaching position of the national team, according to L'EQUIPE. The source also reported that the current Real Madrid Dir of Football is "on the same priority level" as former Olympique de Marseille coach Didier Deschamps in the eyes of the FFF President (L'EQUIPE, 7/5). Le JOURNAL DU DIMANCHE reported that Zidane "opened the door" to the possibility of coaching the national team in an interview that aired Sunday. Zidane said, "Ten years ago, I did not want to be a coach. Today, I want to head in that direction. So we will see. Maybe in 10 years, I will be head coach of the French team..." Former French coach Raymond Domenech believes if Zidane does want to be the coach, he will get the position. Domenech: "If he says and shows that he wants it, it will be him. I do not see how we could say no to him if he wants to be the coach" (JDD, 7/5).
