NFL Spring Meetings Begin With Replay Changes At Forefront

The NFL spring meetings began today at the Arizona Biltmore in Phoenix, as owners and execs will gather together through Wednesday to "address typical league matters, meet with the media and vote on a series of potential new rule changes" (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 3/24). Potential replay changes will be a "major discussion point," but Steelers President Art Rooney II is "not in favor of expanding replay beyond the system currently in place" (PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, 3/24).

Owners will hear "several new rules proposals aimed at expanding instant replay," along with another that seeks to "give both teams a possession in overtime, and eliminate the OT coin toss." However, the chances of "any significant changes being made in either area appear to be slim" (BOSTON GLOBE, 3/24). Meanwhile, 13 current and former players "will participate" in the meetings, including Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald and Seahawks QB Russell Wilson (PROFOOTBALLTALK.com, 3/23).
