Patriots' Robert Kraft "Truly Sorry" For Ongoing Legal Scandal

Patriots Owner Robert Kraft yesterday apologized for "allegations that he solicited prostitution at a Florida massage parlor and pledged to try to restore his reputation amid fallout from the scandal." Kraft, speaking on the eve of the NFL owners' meeting in Phoenix, said, "I am truly sorry. I know I have hurt and disappointed my family, my close friends, my co-workers, our fans, and many others." By commenting now, Kraft "gives himself the option of refraining from commenting further to the media while he tries to repair harm to his reputation" with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and his fellow owners. Kraft: "I have extraordinary respect for women; my morals and my soul were shaped by the most wonderful woman, the love of my life, who I was blessed to have as my partner for 50 years" (BOSTON GLOBE, 3/24). On the front page of today's Globe: "Father, Faith Add An Edge To Kraft's Trials."

The N.Y. TIMES Style section profiles Kraft and his travails under the header, "Robert Kraft Awaits Your Judgement: 'I Am Truly Sorry," noting Kraft these days is "leaning heavily on one of his closest friends" in Fanatics Exec Chair Michael Rubin (N.Y. TIMES, 3/24).
