Atlanta Mayor Expects Falcons Stadium Proposal By End Of Month
Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed on Friday said that he expects City Council to have a deal for a new Falcons stadium "on its plate by the end of this month." Reed said the city, the Georgia World Congress Center Authority and the Falcons are in “robust” negotiations. The current version of the deal would have the city issue $200M in bonds "backed by hotel-motel tax revenue to partly fund" a $1B stadium that "would replace the Georgia Dome." City Council "would have to approve a funding deal" (ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION, 3/2).
