Minor League Baseball reached a three-year partnership with Marvel Entertainment that will see at least 96 clubs participating in an event series called “Marvel’s Defenders of the Diamond” during the '22-24 baseball seasons. The deal was facilitated by AthLife Inc., Marvel’s longtime sports representative. The announcement was made at the “Marvel: Universe of Super Heroes” exhibit at the Chicago Museum of Science & Industry, which has more than 300 Marvel artifacts, including original comic book pages, sculptures, costumes and interactive displays. The launch event on Facebook Live included mascots hanging out with Marvel characters. In '19, the 23 Marvel-themed games that were hosted by MiLB teams saw an average attendance lift of 33% compared to their non-Marvel games, said MLB VP/Minor League Business Operations Kurt Hunzeker. Last season, there were just four such games, but those saw an attendance bump of 48%.
